From Collaboration to Success: How Knowledge Integration Capabilities Strengthens Project Outcomes

Abstract

Purpose: The significance of achieving specific goals and objectives lies with the ability to attract and accomplish projects successfully in organizations. Collaborative efforts in project-based industries and organizations are increasing to create value for the customers. Literature reveals that collaborations and co-creations lead to certain challenges and complexities. The objective of this study is to explore the moderating effect of knowledge integration capability on relationship between project collaboration qualities and project success.

Design/Methodology/Approach. This study used a survey questionnaire to collect data using the stratified sampling technique from the respondents from telecommunication and health sectors

Findings. Findings show significant positive relationship between project collaboration qualities and project success. In addition, moderation of knowledge integration capability strengthens the relationship between project collaboration qualities and project success.

 Research Limitations. This study has only considered a limited sample size from telecommunication and hospitality sectors of Islamabad, Pakistan. Variations between different industries can be studied and researcher can also take organizations of diverse regions as population of their study. Thus, the future study can engage more sample size and different theoretical backgrounds from other disciplines for the development of models.

Practical Implications. This study implies that if project collaboration qualities are practiced adequately and the knowledge integration capability of collaborators is highly skilled, it provides an expert workforce which leads towards project success.

Originality/Value. This study points out important practical implications for project directors, project managers, project coordinators and team lead who are heading projects in their organizations.
