Abstract

The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed project management by enhancing decision-making, collaboration, and operational efficiency. This study investigates the influence of AI-assisted project decision-making and cross-functional knowledge integration on project success while examining the mediating role of team learning agility and the moderating role of project complexity. A quantitative, explanatory, and cross-sectional research design was adopted using a structured questionnaire administered to professionals working in project-based organizations, with 270 valid responses retained for the final analysis. Data was analysed using SPSS 27 and Hayes' PROCESS Macro to examine direct, mediating, and moderating relationships. The findings revealed that AI-assisted project decision-making and cross-functional knowledge integration significantly and positively influence project success. Team learning agility partially mediated both relationships, indicating that adaptive learning capabilities strengthen the effectiveness of AI-enabled decision-making and collaborative knowledge integration. However, project complexity did not significantly moderate the relationship between team learning agility and project success. The study contributes to AI-enabled project management literature by integrating technological, organizational, and behavioural perspectives into a unified framework and offers practical guidance for organizations seeking to improve project outcomes through AI adoption, collaborative knowledge sharing, and continuous team learning.
