Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates how organizations leverage digital opportunities and manage cross-border challenges to enhance international e-marketing effectiveness. Drawing on Dynamic Capability Theory and the Resource-Based View (RBV), it examines how organizations leverage digital capabilities to enhance marketing performance while managing the constraints associated with international markets.

Design/Methodology/Approach: A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among 276 marketing professionals, digital marketing managers, international business executives, and e-commerce practitioners. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 29 and SmartPLS 4.

Findings: The findings indicate that international e-marketing opportunities, including global market expansion, customer personalization, artificial intelligence, social media marketing, and e-commerce growth, have a significant positive effect on international e-marketing effectiveness. Conversely, cross-border challenges, including cultural differences, language barriers, legal and regulatory compliance, cybersecurity risks, and data privacy concerns, significantly reduce marketing effectiveness. The proposed model explains 68.4% of the variance in international e-marketing effectiveness, demonstrating substantial explanatory power.

Originality/Value: This study extends international e-marketing research by explaining how organizations can strategically leverage digital opportunities while managing cross-border challenges within an integrated framework grounded in Dynamic Capability Theory and the Resource-Based View. The findings provide robust evidence of how digital capabilities enhance international marketing performance while highlighting the importance of managing institutional and technological constraints.

Practical Implications: The findings suggest that organizations can strengthen international marketing performance by investing in artificial intelligence, customer analytics, social media, and e-commerce capabilities while simultaneously enhancing regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, and culturally adaptive marketing strategies.
